First Day of School!

Yes, I know I didn't finish December 2011 yet, but I wanted to post about Noah's first day of school so that I didn't get behind in 2012, so December will have to wait just a bit.  Today was Noah's first day of preschool at St. Tim's. Noah and I have been talking about school since August and it seemed like this day would never arrive, but it did.

It was a bittersweet day for me, my baby was going off to school and he will (I hope) be in school for the next 20 to 25 years depending on what type of college/grad school program he chooses.  Its kind of amazing to think that John and I have been his primary educators and now we are bringing in the professionals to help us with the amazing task of educating and forming a human being into an adult.  It has been such an honor to be home with Noah these past three and a half years.  He is an inquisitive, loving, busy and headstrong little man who always amazes me with his insight, his energy and his little loving heart.  I would never change a minute of being able to be with him, but I believe it was exactly the perfect time for him and us as a family to start school.  When we dropped him off at his classroom he didn't cry and I didn't cry.  It just felt like the right next step for Noah and I think that we needed the last couple of months to adjust to being a family of four before we took the next big step of school.

Noah did great according to the teachers he just accepted that it was now time for school.  He said that his favorite part of the day was music and that they had popcorn and apple juice for snack and that they read a book about Jesus.  The teachers did say that he put his fingers in his ears during music which is normal Noah behavior when things are loud.  When we got home he said that he was so glad to be at his house. School is only from 12:30 to 3:30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays so I think it will be the perfect amount of time for him to get adjusted to school.  He was so cute with his little dinosaur backpack that was too big for him.  When we went to pick him up his eyes light up and he hugged me and told me he missed me.  He is such a wonderful little one and I am so honored to be his mom.  Love you so much my little man.

Not to be outdone by Noah's academic endeavors, Grant rolled over from his back on to his side then back to the center then to the other side.  Pretty good considering a couple weeks ago he could not lay flat on his back without screaming in pain because of the reflux.  Thank God for modern medicine.  John looked up at me after Grant rolled over and said,"Its happening right before our eyes they are growing up too fast." I feel the same way, but I feel we are blessed to have such wonderful kids and that we get to spend so much time together laughing and helping them learn and grow.  Pictures to follow =)

November 2011

November was a month of ups and downs.  We did some very fun things this month which included a trip to the Arizona Natural History Museum, a trip to the zoo, the messy art party with our moms group, playing in the courtyard and spending Thanksgiving with Aunt Mar Mar, Uncle Sean Mow, Mason, Uncle John, Great Grandma, Nana and Pa.

Sadly, Great Grandpa passed away on November 12 and we all miss him very much.  As I said in the October post he was a great man and I am glad that the boys got to meet him and that I got to spend time with him and be with him during his last days.  I am glad he is no longer in pain and is at peace now.  We also realized at the end of November that something was not right again with Baby Grant's stomach, I will talk more about that in the December blog.
