After our eventful ultrasound, we waited semi-patiently by the phone to hear some news from our doctor. On March 30, 2011, Noah and I were on the way to get some coffee at Starbucks and run errands and John was at home getting ready for a meeting. My phone rang and it was my doctor's wonderful nurse Nancy (love her) calling to give us the big news. I told her that I would call her right back and I ran home to get John on the phone. We called the doctor back and put them on speaker phone and they let us know that the baby looked great and it was a boy! She said that the "wonderful" people at SMIL were not going to tell her the sex of the baby, but she kind of made them. We were happy that the baby looked good and that Noah would have a little brother to play with, however I did not post it on the blog, because I wanted the doctor to confirm that it was a boy once he looked at the pictures and the report. I had an doctors appointment on April 7, so I figured as long as I knew that the baby was okay, I could wait to confirm that it was a boy. All that mattered was that the baby was okay.
So on April 7, I went to the doctor expecting to confirm that it was a boy. Turns out our "friends" at SMIL had not sent over the images of the baby and had only sent a two page report, which made no mention of the sex of the baby. So I asked the doctor if an ultrasound tech had stated it was a boy does it every happen that the baby turns out being a girl. She said she did not have any confidence in this tech based on our experience. She said that she thought we should have another ultrasound, I requested that we have it in the doctors office this time, so we could be confident that the tech was competent and kind. We will have to pay for it out of pocket, but at this point John and I really don't care.
So we have another appointment on May 19 and we will do an ultrasound to determine if it's a boy or a girl, take two. I am pretty sure it is a boy, but it will be good to know for sure. This will also be the dreaded 26 week appointment when IUGR starts to manifest itself (I also have to get my blood drawn yuck), so I am hoping that John will be able to come with me to the appointment. We are blessed that we will have wonderful Lindsey back from college, so she is going to be able to watch Noah for us. We have been so blessed to have the wonderful Walker sisters to watch and care for our bear. Anyway, hopefully all will go well, the baby will look great and I wont pass out getting my blood drawn (I am really such a wimp). Here are some of the pictures the "wonderful" people at SMIL allowed us to take home with us.
